“Shout for joy to the LORD, all the earth.
Worship the LORD with gladness; come before him with joyful songs. Know that the LORD is God. It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, the sheep of his pasture. Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name. For the LORD is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through all generations.” ~Psalm 100:1-5 We began this week by thanking God for His faithfulness. We have seen His work in our lives and around Baylor even just in the past week! We thank You, Lord, because we feel Your revival within ourselves, the change You bring within us! We plead that the Spirit would reign in us. We long to be a simple Christian people, not relying on our own strength or authority, but on the authority of the Spirit. Bring us together, Lord, as a gathered body in Your Spirit, with Christ as our head! Please use us . . . we lay ourselves down. “The people walking in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of the shadow of death a light has dawned.” ~Isaiah 9:2 “But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. Once you were not a people, but now you are the people of God; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.” ~1 Peter 2:9-10 We ask that we would be strengthened to carry the love of Jesus to those living in darkness, both here at Baylor and across the world. Send us, Father, directly to those living in darkness, as we once were. To end our time, we split off into groups of threes and fours to pray for each other, specific nations of the world, and for specific steps of obedience we individually feel led to take this week. Thank you for praying with us! Blessings, Baylor BSM

Sometimes it is hard to describe what happens at a prayer meeting, with all the energy brought by God’s power and the hope we receive as a result. We thank God for such a night, and ask that the fire we experienced would not be diminished as we find ourselves in the crush of another school week.
One main theme of our prayers at this week’s meeting was, that we would be “all in,” coming against lukewarm hearts in ourselves and others. We ask for a baptism with the Spirit’s fire, that we would not hesitate to live in the radical way of Christ. We ask, Lord, that we would not think twice before sharing Christ’s love and gospel with those around us, in our classrooms, clubs, and dorms. For we know there is nothing more exciting than seeing someone go from death to life as a result of Your gospel. Our classrooms are our mission field! We ask also that we might be Christ’s ambassadors carrying this message of reconciliation to the world. “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come! All this is from God, who reconciled us to Himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting men’s sins against them. And He has committed to us the message of reconciliation. We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were make his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God.” ~2 Corinthians 5:17-20 We plead that this reconciliation between God and man would come on our campus, and with it reconciliation between men. Unify us, Lord, that there be not a “White Baylor,” “Hispanic Baylor,” or “Black Baylor,” but that in You we simply become united followers of Christ at Baylor. “There is one body and one Spirit- just as you were called to one hope when you were called- one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all.” ~Ephesians 4:4 Make us fearless, Lord, to cross boundaries, to reach out to those different than us in ethnicity and lifestyle. Father, please cast out fear of man from us. We ended our meeting by asking God to let His kingdom come . . . for we have no other purpose in seeking revival than this. We seek not that Baylor would be lifted up, or ourselves, but only our God. Lord, let Your kingdom come! We ask that you partner with us in these prayers. Peace and Blessings for your week, Baylor BSM This week, we began by thanking our God for the blessings He continues to pour out on us. We thank Him for the friends He has brought us, other joys of life, and also the trials that help shape us into the people You want us to be.
The first request brought forward was for those on Baylor’s campus who use drugs, alcohol, and partying to mask the pain they feel inside. We pray for specific people we know who are caught in this terrible cycle. Lord, please break through these masks they put on, expose this lifestyle as empty so that they may be led to find healing in the fullness of Your grace alone. We feel like God is trying to tell us that 2018 is the year of downpour. So we pray, “Let it rain, Lord, let it rain!” We ask that God’s grace would rain on this campus and bring forth a harvest of new believers as well as students who choose to follow the Lord’s call into international mission fields. We also acknowledge Christ as the center of all of this, as the clock by which we discern what to do and when to do it. We rely fully on Him! We pray, once again, that all nations would come to the house of God, that the prophecy in Isaiah 2 would come to pass: “The mountain of the LORD’s temple will be established As chief among the mountains; It will be raised above the hills, And all nations will stream to it. Many peoples will come and say, ‘Come, let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, To the house of the God of Jacob. He will teach us his ways, So that we may walk in his paths.’” ~Isaiah 2:2-3 We ended our meeting with a call to repentance. Especially on a day honoring Martin Luther King, Jr., we pray that the racial strife still present in our country would cease and that we would see the day when love replaces hatred and fear not only in words but also in hearts. We repent of our own sins and complacency, and ask for the courage to move forward in repentance and love. We ask that you join with us in these prayers for our campus and the nations. Thank you! Hello everyone! We thought it would be a good idea to keep track of what ideas, requests, and words the Lord brings up at our prayer meetings so you can partner in prayer with our ministry. We will put out a summary weekly in order that we may be on the same page for prayer week by week. Thank you for partnering with us! In our first meeting of the semester, one of the first prayers brought forward was that any pride of ours would be crushed. Instead, we ask that humility would grow in its place. “He humbled you, causing you to hunger and then feeding you with manna, which neither you nor your fathers had known, to teach you that man does not live on bread alone but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.” ~Deuteronomy 8:3 NIV We ask this because as we embark on what God wants for us this semester there are two very easy traps to fall into. We don’t want to fall into lifting the name of BSM high or into thinking that what we do is a result of our own power. No, it is Christ we proclaim, and we move forward only in His strength and His word. It is He who has made us, and we are His. (Psalm 100:3) We rely on Him alone! Another prayer brought forward is that we would be infected with the love of Jesus. May it be so, Lord, that we are so compelled by Your love that we become missionaries into the classroom, into the different clubs/organizations we belong to, and into Baylor as a whole. Finally, we pray that we can shine as His lights. We think it no coincidence that the new promotional campaign unveiled across campus this semester is called “Baylor Lights Shine Bright.” Oh Father, that we would shine as stars, reflecting Your light and love on this campus and across the world! |
