“The Spirit of the Sovereign LORD is on me,
because the LORD has anointed me
to preach good news to the poor.
He has sent me to bind up the broken hearted,
to proclaim freedom for the captives
and release from darkness for the prisoners . . .
To provide for those who grieve in Zion –
to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes,
the oil of gladness instead of morning,
and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair.
They will be called oaks of righteousness,
a planting of the LORD
for the display of his splendor.”
                                    ~Isaiah 61:1,3
We began this meeting by praising Jesus for who He is: the Light of the World, the One who came down, our great Lover, the One who is slow to anger and abounding in love and faithfulness.
We ask that God would unify us as we move forward in seeking revival on this campus. We ask that there would be no “us vs. them” mentality in our interactions with non-believers and with our interactions with other churches/ministries/organizations. We ask that the Lord would unify us simply behind His love and good news. Throw down the walls, Lord! We know that He is calling us and calling Baylor, and we want to answer that call! Father, write in our hearts what Paul says:
“I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes . . .” ~Romans 1:16
Lord, may it be that we’re not just “nice people” that those around us admire; no, let us carry the name of Jesus always, that they may know the One who sends us.
We pray we would be filled with gentleness even as we walk forward in boldness. We ask, Lord, that our hearts would not grow hardened to Your message or love, but would be soft to Your touch. We wouldn’t be eager to share stale bread, so let Your message not grow stale in our hearts . . . please refresh us continually. Let it be the fresh bread of Your light and presence that we hold out, Jesus.
“As you come to him, the living Stone- rejected by men but chosen by God and precious to him- you also, like living stones, are being built into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.” ~1 Peter 2:4-5
In closing, we asked that the Lord would build us together as living stones. Help us this week, Father, to grow together and upwards to You. Let us reach out to others in our lives so that they might becoming living stones, too. We love You and trust You, Lord.
Thank you for praying with us!
Blessings,
Baylor BSM
